The Iconic Puzzle Game Didn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category Might Solve This

Each time a prominent awards ceremony nears, one notices a demand for the addition of new categories to recognize overlooked contributions and delight the hearts of followers dedicated to specific genres.

A fellow writer has already made advocating for terror-themed awards. That would rule. So would strategy board titles, which is a passionate advocate's mission. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front because like all single-minded supporters, I have a cast-iron argument for why my demand remains most pressing above others. The demand is this: There should be a category for puzzle games.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Categorizing art by genre is not a science; it’s very subjective, and inevitably spark debates concluding with vague boundaries. This explains why film award organizations don’t do it. Yet it remains a necessary evil within the realm of video games, showing incredible range it's challenging to consider them a single creative category.

To recognize the complete range of gaming accomplishments to be recognized, and to ensure all game types to compete fairly, classification by type becomes crucial.

Existing Game Classification System

Prominent interactive entertainment events presently include award types recognizing Action, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these six categories successfully include many game types, allowing placement for most games within them.

Different situation exists for puzzle games. No suitable classification appears to put them. Consider three of recent excellent titles, showing diverse approaches: the architectural riddles in a particular game, intense tile-matching from another release, thought-provoking social scenarios from additional release. What category would fit them within current classifications? Nowhere, that’s where.

Acknowledgment Issues

Many instances occur excellent brain-teasers launched regularly lacking appropriate categories in entertainment awards, except when they manage to fit award groups including Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, or the extremely competitive Indie races.

  • One classic puzzle game got overlooked completely during that awards season
  • A different innovative game missed out that year
  • Popular arranging title was overlooked that year
  • Just some puzzle games barely qualified for small studio or handheld classifications

Significance of Puzzle Games

These are often small games, but the art in brain-teasers carries substantial weight. Iconic mobile puzzle games stand as the most-played games in the world maintaining this status for over a decade.

The iconic tile-matching title rivals popular creative games competing to become best-selling game of all time; it additionally competes for top gaming experience. Logic titles represent cornerstones to the art of video games, and they are in conversation across multiple categories.

Proposal and Rationale

Puzzle games wouldn’t have such difficulty. It would be easy to populate a field of five engaging, different, qualified experiences annually without trouble — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent many worthy titles.

And to reiterate, these include experiences that otherwise have no home during prominent ceremonies. Brain-teaser creators operate at the demanding boundary interactive creation, developing some of essential manifestations of gaming itself. Comparable to film action specialists, they deserve recognition. Don't make them wait 35 years.
